[community profile] thefarshore Shinki Sanctuary

The resident Shinki Sanctuary is a a place for shinki without a god to go to. True to its name, it's meant to be a safe heaven so that vulnerable souls can avoid being eaten by an ayakashi. It's also apparently a safe heaven for many roosters and chickens, which are plentiful on the grounds.

Instead of being on the Far Shore like many temples and other places which cater to its denizens, the Shinki Sanctuary is instead located on the Near Shore with the mortals. Any shinki who need a place to stay are more than welcome within the walls of a modest shrine dedicated to Amaterasu. While the grounds are occupied by priests who tend to it and visitors, it's an otherwise calm and relaxed place. The buildings and other structures are all very nicely maintained, clearly tended to with love. A temizuya is on the grounds, allowing any shinki who have become blighted to easily wash themselves or take a bit of water for themselves to carry. There is also a plentiful amount of chickens living on the grounds too. They're divine messengers, you know?

Priests don't always necessarily live on shrine grounds in this day and age, at least not always. Fortunately for those residing at the Shinki Sanctuary, this leaves them with some space to turn in for the night. The shamusho (office building) of this particular shrine is large enough to house a good few futon at night. Hopefully this isn't a problem when the Sanctuary is particularly full...

Due to the fact that the Sanctuary resides in a shrine and not a five star hotel, accommodations are fairly simple. Occasionally, food offerings are available to be eaten. More than likely, however, anyone who wants to cook will have to make do with the simple traditional tools available that are often used for purification ritual and the likes. There is also no shower, so people will have to go elsewhere if they want to clean themselves and their clothes. Speaking of...

For shinki who have just arrived, or lost everything, the owners of the Sanctuary will gladly offer (or can be approached) to get them a spare change of clothes or two, depending on what they can manage! Any clothing got is usually on the thrifty side, from the cheapest shops that they can manage to find. Needless to say, they're not the most stylish of clothing, but they'll get someone through a cold winter or hot summer.

In exchange for shelter, clothing, and what food can be managed, shinki who reside at the shrine are asked to do the bare minimum of helping put away their futon in the morning, along with cleaning up any messes they've helped to create. Further help around the shrine is encouraged, but not mandatory.

Along with housing godless shinki, the Shinki Sanctuary also offers to match up gods and shinki who have signed up for the program! Both are given a sheet to fill out describing their best traits, talents, and the kind of partner they're looking for. It doesn't matter if a god or shinki already has a partner; the Sanctuary will ask no questions on that front. If a god wants to be a hoarder or a shinki a nora, then that's their business.
